Better late than never
| Me and my Daddy |
Father's Day was a particularly hard day for me. About 2 years ago I moved away from my father. Yesterday I came to the conclusion that I am going through what has been one of the hardest years that I have had in a long while. I just wished for a second that my Daddy could give me a bear hug and maybe it wouldn't all feel so grim. This man has always been the one person that I felt actually understood me and never tried to change or mold me into something I wasn't. Maybe it's that "Father/ Daughter" bond that we have. I pray we always have our bond.
Enough with the pity party. I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day. Two days ago. lol

A couple of things I found myself contemplating:
♥ I can't be defined, I feel my worst when my fashion sense is restricted
♥ People are quick to judge...I'm guilty of it too
♥ I am so random, I can't keep up with my own thoughts
♥ I know I'm doing something right because the pit of my stomach is telling me so
♥ Am I the only one who wears satin pajamas inside out, so that the satin is on my skin?
Hope you are all enjoying your week or at the least finding time to do the things you love.

Fighting for a Better Tomorrow
I'm in a transitional period in life right now. Here I am, after College, after being laid off from my first job out of College, after being looked over as an Intern and after all my hopes have been crushed. I'm perplexed by the turn of events that led to my unclear nature. Being in debt from the attack of the massive student loans leaves me feeling bewildered by the University education I gave my blood, sweat and tears to. All the things that helped me define myself were all taken away from me in an instant. I'm Lost. I spend most of my days trying to figure out what to do next. I'm trying to decide who I am.
I never thought deeply about what I wanted, and who I was until everything was taken away. Never have I ever been so unsure of myself. When life has you down on your knees, it's in those desperate times that you're forced to make decisions that become the cultivation of who you are in this world. Also, when you are on your knees you're in the perfect position to pray.
Life can be cruel and I let it get me disoriented. It made me forget all the reasons why I am special. It encouraged me to stop dreaming about the future and to grimace at my present. I got tired of feeling sorry for myself and I looked to my christian background to pull me out of my funk. One scripture in particular really resonated with me.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, "I say this because I know what I am planning for you," says the Lord. "I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future."
Knowing that my future isn't in the hands of life itself but, in the hands of God gave me all the courage I needed to believe in myself again. My faith in him has been my crutch through this whole entire process. The process has only just begun but instead of feeling defeated before the fight is over, I'm going to fight until I am victorious.
I never thought deeply about what I wanted and who I was until everything was taken away. I have nothing to lose so I'm fighting for a better tomorrow today.

My Weekend Rave
Last Monday I raved about the movie Immortals. I previously stated that Immortals is greek mythology based. Staying with the theme of Greek, I went to a Greek cafe with some friends this Saturday. The cafe is called Niko Niko's, it was featured on the food network show Guy's Big Bite. Upon arriving, the parking lot was full and there was a line outside the door. I knew the food had to be good because people in Houston are too impatient to wait on anything.
Let me tell you that food was delicious. I was upset that I had never been there after the first bite. The food was like a high, the first time is always the best and the gyro I had popped my Niko Niko's cherry. I'm totally in love with this Greek and American cafe. If you're ever in Houston be sure to stop by Niko Niko's and order a gyro with a greek salad. If you're a fry lover this is also the place to go. One thing they don't do is make you feel jipped the side order needs it's own plate. Trust me you will get your money's worth.

My Weekend Rave
I love Greek mythology. I beat God of War I on PS2 because I was so intrigued with the cut scenes and the story behind Cratos (The character you play). Immortals is based on Greek mythology as well.
I was so excited to see the new movie Immortals that I went to a 12:05a showing. Despite having only four hours of sleep that day, I was wide awake throughout the whole movie.
Theseus is the main character who is played by Henry Cavill. He is a mortal man who is chosen by the God's to fight for the good of humanity and on behalf of the Gods.
Mickey Rourke played an awesome villain. He played King Hyperion a power-hungry evil man on a mission to obtain a weapon that could destroy Greece. I literally snarled at his character throughout the movie, as the opportunity to do so presented itself plenty of times.
This action packed ball-busting movie is wonderfully entertaining. Immortals is jam packed with beautiful scenery and 3D technology that actually makes you feel like you're there. There were plenty of jaw dropping moments that amazed me, surprised me and even made me cringe. Whatever you do if you see this movie, do so in 3D.
What is your weekend rave?

Halloween Shananigans
Overall my Halloween Party was a huge success! Everyone called the next day to tell me how much fun they had. We played Halloween charades, told ghost stories, voted on the best costume, played Halloween pictionary and I scared everyone that entered when I answered the door in my devil mask. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time, even though I was a bit upset that I didn't win the Best Halloween costume :( Pocahontas won!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
